5 THINGS THAT ARE PART OF THE MANDATE {STPLE} [the breakfast club 10.2.05]

{STPLE}

seek.trust.pray.love.encourage

SEEK
-seek after God - strive to know Him - learn to serve as Jesus served - get answers from Him
Luke 11:9-10

-------------------------

TRUST

examples: THE CHAIR THE ROLLERCOASTER

Trust means giving up control of part of yourself.

Psalm 20:7-8
Some may trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm

1 Corinthians 4:2 NIV
"Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful."

Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;

6 in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.

QUESTION: Who is a person you trust the most?

Why is it hard to trust some people?

-----------------------

PRAY

The earliest extant record of prayer in the Jewish-Christian tradition? This Priestly Benediction found in Numbers 6:24-26

Prayer is our communication line with God... it brings a communion with God.

WHEN CAN YOU PRAY: at school as you walk the halls...

WHO CAN YOU PRAY FOR: your enemies

-----------------------

LOVE
"The world isn't a playground; it's a schoolroom. Life isn't a holiday, but an education. And the one eternal lesson for us all is how better we can love."

QUESTION: How can love change your world? Change your school?

John 13: 34
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."

1 Corinthians 13:4-5 NASB
Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, [5] does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered

WHAT IS THE ONE THING THAT EVERYBODY WANTS? THEY WANT TO BE WANTED. THEY WANT TO BE LOVED.

----------------------------------

ENCOURAGE

God asks us to get involved in one another’s lives. This is called Accountability.

HEB. 3:12

ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER
to appeal
to beg
to urge
to exhort

● get involved in the lives of people around you.

● DON’T sit back and do nothing while someone you know or even love self destructs!

● If we know someone is feeling LONELY, don’t further their LONELINESS.

We don’t know what God is doing on the inside? We don’t know if that person has prayed to God “send somebody to help me”

You may be God’s voice to them at a critical time.
