Youth Ministry

The Youth Fellowship at our church is comprised of approximately of 60 youth with an average of 35 to 40 youth attending each week who are in 7th through 12th grades. Our youth group name at present is Alien Youth. We get our name from 1 Peter 2:11-12 which reads:

Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

Our mission is to bring more people to Christ by using our gifts and abilities in the areas of fellowship, faith, listening and advising – to please God as we strive to further His kingdom as one.

Our Youth Group meets every Sunday evening at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall and Youth Lounge (called Youth Focus). We begin our time with a brief introduction followed by Creative Group time. Our three creative groups are involved with various projects including publishing a youth newsletter, baking items for those in need, decorating the youth bulletin board, video productions or small service projects. After a time of fellowship, games and a snack, the youth group gathers in the Lounge for topical discussion designed to deepen our faith in Jesus.

Other youth ministries include Girl Talk (a weekly Girls Bible Study) on Wednesday evening. Our youth group currently consists of 75 per cent female students. Girl Talk provides the girls a chance to study the Bible while discussing issues pertaining specifically to them. Once a month, the Alien Youth meet for a special youth-led worship service called The Breakfast Club. Generally on the first Sunday of the month, the Breakfast Club meets at 9:00 am in the Fellowship Hall with contemporary music, video and relevant messages inspired by God and is designed to worship our Creator in creative ways. Junior and Senior High Winter Jam retreats are annually held at Christ United Methodist Church every January and March - with over 300 youth from Northeast Ohio attending. The Alien Youth are also heavily involved with CYF Camp and annual summer mission projects.

It is our goal to enable the youth who are a part of the Alien Youth to be equipped give reasons for the hope and faith that they have in Jesus. Through Fellowship, Unity , Evangelism and Service we strive to make disciples willing to stand up for Jesus - even if that means standing alone. To God be the glory!
